Short answer: Picturental uses cookies sparingly, and only for the things that genuinely need them.

What we use

Strictly necessary

These keep the site working and can't be turned off:

• Authentication (set by Clerk) — remembers you so you stay logged in between page loads.
• Payment session (set by Stripe at checkout) — keeps your payment intent linked to your booking.

Functional

These support one specific feature each, are never used for advertising or to build a profile of you, and only get set when you actually use the feature:

• Location (pr_geo, 30 days) — your approximate location, set only if you use "Nearest me" distance sorting, so results near you stay near you next visit.
• Recently viewed (pr_rv, 30 days) — the gear you've looked at, so we can show it back to you.
• Compare list (pr_cmp, 30 days) — which listings you've added to a side-by-side comparison.
• Referral (pr_ref / pr_ref_from, 90 days) — set if you arrive via someone else's referral link, so we can credit them and show you who invited you.

What we don't use

• Analytics cookies. We use Plausible, which is cookieless by design. No tracking cookie, no fingerprinting.
• Advertising cookies. Picturental doesn't show ads and doesn't share data with ad networks.
• Cross-site tracking. Every cookie above is first-party and scoped to picturental.com — nothing on Picturental follows you to other websites.

Why we don't need a cookie banner

UK GDPR and the PECR allow strictly-necessary cookies without consent, and don't require a consent banner for cookies that carry no advertising or cross-site tracking risk. Everything above is first-party, serves one disclosed purpose, and is never sold or shared — so we tell you what's set, here, rather than interrupting your visit with a banner for it.

Controlling cookies

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out of Picturental but the site will otherwise still work.
