Will it fit?
What lenses fit the ARRI AMIRA?
The short answer
The ARRI AMIRA has a PL mount and a Super 35 sensor. PL lenses fit directly. LPL, Canon EF, Nikon F, Canon FD, M42, Leica M, Fujifilm G, Canon RF, L-Mount, Micro Four Thirds, Sony E, Fujifilm X and Nikon Z lenses can't be adapted to its PL mount.
What the ARRI AMIRA asks of a lens
- The sensor
- ALEV III Super 35 — the same imager as the ALEXA Mini, in a shoulder body built for one operator working alone.
- What to put on it
- S35 PL primes and zooms. In practice it earns its keep with a servo zoom: Angénieux Optimo or Fujinon Cabrio, so one person can work a documentary without a crew.
- A pairing that works
- An Angénieux Optimo or Fujinon Cabrio servo zoom is the pairing this body was designed around — one operator, no crew.
- What it gets booked for
- Documentary, live events, and any day where you cannot stop to change a lens.
- Worth knowing
- The balance is designed around a zoom on the shoulder. Hanging a short prime on the front puts the weight in the wrong place and you'll want a longer baseplate.

PL lenses
The camera's own mount — nothing extra needed.
Won't fit
LPL lenses
A LPL lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Canon EF lenses
A Canon EF lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Nikon F lenses
A Nikon F lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Canon FD lenses
A Canon FD lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
M42 lenses
A M42 lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Leica M lenses
A Leica M lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Fujifilm G lenses
A Fujifilm G lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Canon RF lenses
A Canon RF lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
L-Mount lenses
A L-Mount lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Micro Four Thirds lenses
A Micro Four Thirds lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Sony E lenses
A Sony E lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Fujifilm X lenses
A Fujifilm X lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Nikon Z lenses
A Nikon Z lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the PL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.
Some cameras can have a different lens mount fitted by a technician. If a rental comes that way the listing will say so, and this table won't apply.
Sensor coverage
Lenses made for Super 35, full frame and large format cover its Super 35 sensor fully.
Lenses made for Super 16 and Micro Four Thirds throw a smaller image, so expect dark corners unless you shoot in a crop mode that matches.
Full-frame lenses on Super 35 frame tighter than their focal length suggests — a 50mm looks roughly like a 75mm on full frame.

Mounts and adapters are checked against flange distance and the adapters that are actually sold. Kits vary — if a pairing matters for your shoot, confirm it with the owner before you book.
