What lenses fit the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF?

The short answer

The ARRI ALEXA Mini LF has an LPL mount and a large format sensor. LPL lenses fit directly. PL lenses fit with an adapter. Canon EF, Canon FD, Leica M, Fujifilm G, Canon RF, L-Mount, Micro Four Thirds, Sony E, Fujifilm X and Nikon Z lenses can't be adapted to its LPL mount.

What the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF asks of a lens

The sensor
Large format, 4.5K, 36.70 × 25.54 mm — taller than a stills full-frame sensor, which is the part that catches people out.
What to put on it
Signature Primes were designed around this sensor and are the default. Full-frame stills glass covers the width but can fall short in the corners at open gate.
A pairing that works
Signature Primes, or Supreme Primes if you want a touch more contrast. Full-frame stills glass works for handheld B-camera at a push.
What it gets booked for
Large-format drama on a body light enough for a gimbal or a Steadicam.
Worth knowing
Super 35 PL lenses mount and will vignette badly. If you're bringing S35 glass, plan to shoot a windowed mode and say so at booking.

  • Fujifilm G lenses

    A Fujifilm G lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the LPL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • Canon RF lenses

    A Canon RF lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the LPL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • L-Mount lenses

    A L-Mount lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the LPL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • Micro Four Thirds lenses

    A Micro Four Thirds lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the LPL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • Sony E lenses

    A Sony E lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the LPL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • Fujifilm X lenses

    A Fujifilm X lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the LPL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • Nikon Z lenses

    A Nikon Z lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the LPL mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

Some cameras can have a different lens mount fitted by a technician. If a rental comes that way the listing will say so, and this table won't apply.

Sensor coverage

Lenses made for large format cover its large format sensor fully.

Lenses made for Super 16, Micro Four Thirds, Super 35 and full frame throw a smaller image, so expect dark corners unless you shoot in a crop mode that matches.
