What lenses fit the Sony α1?

The short answer

The Sony α1 has a Sony E mount and a full frame sensor. Sony E lenses fit directly. PL, LPL, Canon EF, Nikon F, Canon FD, M42 and Leica M lenses fit with an adapter. Fujifilm X and Nikon Z lenses can't be adapted to its Sony E mount.

  • Fujifilm G lenses

    Physically possible, but there's no standard Fujifilm G-to-Sony E adapter — ask the owner.

  • Canon RF lenses

    Physically possible, but there's no standard Canon RF-to-Sony E adapter — ask the owner.

  • L-Mount lenses

    Physically possible, but there's no standard L-Mount-to-Sony E adapter — ask the owner.

  • Micro Four Thirds lenses

    Physically possible, but there's no standard Micro Four Thirds-to-Sony E adapter — ask the owner.

Won't fit

  • Fujifilm X lenses

    A Fujifilm X lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the Sony E mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • Nikon Z lenses

    A Nikon Z lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the Sony E mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

Some cameras can have a different lens mount fitted by a technician. If a rental comes that way the listing will say so, and this table won't apply.

Sensor coverage

Lenses made for full frame and large format cover its full frame sensor fully.

Lenses made for Super 16, Micro Four Thirds and Super 35 throw a smaller image, so expect dark corners unless you shoot in a crop mode that matches.
