Will it fit?

What lenses fit the Panasonic LUMIX S1 II?

The short answer

The Panasonic LUMIX S1 II has an L-Mount and a full frame sensor. L-Mount lenses fit directly. PL, Canon EF, Nikon F, Canon FD, M42 and Leica M lenses fit with an adapter. Canon RF, Micro Four Thirds, Sony E, Fujifilm X and Nikon Z lenses can't be adapted to its L-Mount.

What the Panasonic LUMIX S1 II asks of a lens

The sensor
Full frame with a partially stacked readout — faster than the S5 line, so less rolling shutter skew.
What to put on it
Native L-mount, full-frame coverage. Same lens list as the S5 IIX, with more sensor speed behind it.
A pairing that works
Same L-mount full-frame list as the S5 IIX — Sigma Art, Panasonic S, Leica SL.
What it gets booked for
Fast-moving coverage where the quicker readout keeps pans clean.
Worth knowing
The reason to pay for this over an S5 IIX is readout speed. If you aren't panning fast or shooting under LEDs, you may not see it.

Every lens mount on the Panasonic LUMIX S1 II

Fits directly

  • L-Mount lenses

The camera's own mount — nothing extra needed.

Fits with an adapter

  • PL lenses

    Needs a PL-to-L-Mount adapter.

  • Canon EF lenses

Needs a Canon EF-to-L-Mount adapter (e.g. Sigma MC-21). A smart adapter keeps autofocus.

  • Nikon F lenses

Needs a Nikon F-to-L-Mount adapter. Whether autofocus works depends on the adapter.

  • Canon FD lenses

    Needs a Canon FD-to-L-Mount adapter.

  • M42 lenses

    Needs an M42-to-L-Mount adapter.

  • Leica M lenses

    Needs a Leica M-to-L-Mount adapter.

No standard adapter

  • LPL lenses

Physically possible, but there's no standard LPL-to-L-Mount adapter — ask the owner.

  • Fujifilm G lenses

Physically possible, but there's no standard Fujifilm G-to-L-Mount adapter — ask the owner.

Won't fit

  • Canon RF lenses

A Canon RF lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the L-Mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • Micro Four Thirds lenses

A Micro Four Thirds lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the L-Mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • Sony E lenses

A Sony E lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the L-Mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • Fujifilm X lenses

A Fujifilm X lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the L-Mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

  • Nikon Z lenses

A Nikon Z lens needs to sit closer to the sensor than the L-Mount allows, so there's no room for an adapter.

Some cameras can have a different lens mount fitted by a technician. If a rental comes that way the listing will say so, and this table won't apply.

Sensor coverage

Lenses made for full frame and large format cover its full frame sensor fully.

Lenses made for Super 16, Micro Four Thirds and Super 35 throw a smaller image, so expect dark corners unless you shoot in a crop mode that matches.

Mounts and adapters are checked against flange distance and the adapters that are actually sold. Kits vary — if a pairing matters for your shoot, confirm it with the owner before you book.
